Lifespan continues to be owned by the Registered Nurses who founded the agency in 1983. Lifespan personnel are available 24/7 to handle emergencies for care management clients. For home care clients, staff support is available during all hours when care is received.

Our team members strive to help our clients live at their highest level of functioning and remain as independent as possible with the best quality of life. Below is an introduction to some of the wonderful members of the Lifespan team.
Ashley Min, MHA
Director of Operations
Ashley holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona and a BS in Kinesiology and Leisure Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her experience includes business development, management, and health care operations. Prior to coming to Lifespan, Ashley worked as Director of Provider Relations for a Radiology Medical Group.
Denise Mickel, MSG
Lifespan Care Manager
Denise Mickel received her Bachelor’s of Social Work at Azusa Pacific University and her Masters of Science in Gerontology from San Jose State. Denise has been in the field of aging for over 22 years working in a wide range of environments. Her experience includes skilled nursing facilities, specialized day care for persons with dementia as well as Memory Care in Assisted Living. She has also served as a Deputy Public Guardian and as a Adult Protective Services Social Worker. Denise has a proven rapport with clients, families, caregivers, and peers and enjoys the challenges of assessment, coordinating services, and providing education and support around dementia.
Pat Schauss, RN
Lifespan Care Manager

Pat Schauss attended the University of Arizona for undergraduate studies, and Cabrillo College for her RN degree. Pat has accrued over 20 yrs of experience in acute hospital based nursing, focusing on cardiac care/telemetry for the last 10 years of that time. She has worked at an outpatient interventional pain management clinic and earned certification as a pain management RN. Prior to joining Lifespan, Pat worked in home health/ case management focusing on special needs and hospice care.
Saundie Isaak, MS, CMC

Saundie Isaak received her Bachelor's of Art at Fresno Pacific University and a Bachelor's of Science at California State University, Fresno in Therapeutic Recreation. Her Masters of Science in Health Services Administration is from Saint Mary's University. Saundie has been a Certified Care Manager since 2009 with over two decades of experience that includes skilled nursing, assisting living and memory care, independent living as well private duty home care. She serves on the Board of Directors at Health Projects Center. Saundie's passion is working in the realm of care delivery and providing professional guidance and support to her clients and their families, as well as the caregiving team.
Alicia Cortez-Moreno, CNA, HHA
Supervisor, Staffing Dept.
Alicia Cortez-Moreno is a Certified Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide and has worked with Lifespan for 16 years. She is head of our Safety Team. She started at Lifespan as a Home Care Aide and made such a positive impact on the staffing department she quickly escalated her position to supervisor. As supervisor of the staffing department and home care staff, her primary role at Lifespan is to ensure that our home care aides are appropriately matched to each client. She provides additional training and support to the home care aides and makes visits to the client's homes to monitor the care being provided by our home care aides.
Becky Peters and Pam Goodman launched Lifespan in 1983 because they saw a need in the community to better serve the aging population. Both had been working as registered nurses and recognized that there was a component missing in the continuum of care for elders that could increase choice, improve quality of life, and support health. From this vision Lifespan was born, and over 32 years later Lifespan continues to be a local leader and innovator in geriatric care management and home care.
Lifespan was one of the original geriatric care management agencies established on the West Coast and the very first in Santa Cruz County. Viewed as pioneers, Ms. Peters and Ms. Goodman were among the initial group of Certified Geriatric Care Managers (CMC) through testing and verified experience. Their combined expertise in the myriad challenges of aging is evident in every aspect of Lifespan services.
Over the years, Ms. Peters and Ms. Goodman have volunteered their time and skills to numerous community organizations and boards which serve older persons in the greater Santa Cruz Community. As members of Capitola-Aptos Rotary Club, both have expanded their volunteer reach to less developed areas of the world including Peru and Tanzania.
Pamela Goodman, RN, BSN - President
Ms. Goodman has 35 years of experience in the field of aging including adult day health care, acute psychiatric care and home health care. Additionally, Ms. Goodman considerable experience managing the issues specific to Alzheimer's Disease and the impact of dementia on family and other loved ones.
Ms. Goodman is well-published in the areas of mental health, geriatric care and aging.Her writing includes material about mental health care management.
In addition to her work in the local community, Ms. Goodman has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers and is a past-President of the Capitola-Aptos Rotary Club.
Ms. Goodman received her B.S. in nursing from Humboldt State University, is a Certified Geriatric Care Manager and is credentialed as a Public Health Nurse.
Becky Peters, RN, BSN - Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Peters has 35 years of experience with geriatric nursing in public and private settings. She has served on the faculty of Cabrillo College and has participated on many community boards. She is a past president of the Santa Cruz Alzheimer's Association Board of Directors. Ms. Peters has authored several articles and a chapter in the book, Managing Home Care for the Elderly - Lessons from Community-based Agencies. Ms. Peters is a frequent speaker and lecturer on topics related to eldercare management, aging and Alzheimer's Disease.
Ms. Peters received her B.S. in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is credentialed as a Public Health Nurse and Certified Geriatric Care Manager.
