Coast Line: Lifespan March 1 open house marks anniversary

Lifespan, an aging care management agency, will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an open house from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, at its facilities, 600 Frederick St.

The event will give participants the opportunity to meet the Lifespan team, take tours of the facility, sip wine and enjoy nibbles.

The event will also honor Grey Bears, an organization that improves the health and well being of seniors through food distribution, volunteerism and community participation.

Business Digest: Lifespan to celebrate 35 years Thursday

Lifespan, founded by registered nurses Becky Peters and Pam Goodman, will celebrate 35 years of providing care to people at home with an open house 4-6 p.m. Thursday, at 600 Frederick St.

Attendees will have a chance to meet the Lifespan team, tour the facility and learn about a new service, personal assistants who can visit, escort clients to medical appointments, and help with organizing mail, bill paying and completing forms. There will be wine and bites to eat.

The owners plan to award a $3,500 check to Grey Bears, a 45-year-old nonprofit that supports seniors by providing food, offering volunteer opportunities and selling low-cost goods at their book and thrift stores.

“We have retired Lifespan employees that currently volunteer at Grey Bears,” said Pam Goodman, Lifespan president. “Grey Bears started 10 years before Lifespan so we have been able to watch this wonderful service grow and grow. They serve all the community in so many different ways.”

Lifespan, which has about 80 employees, is recruiting to fill overnight shifts from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays and weekends with some daytime shifts available, including three-hour shifts. Applicants must be able to work 15 hours per week and two weekend days per month.

A $200 sign-on bonus is being offered in February for caregivers who complete 90 days with Lifespan and reimbursement for home care registration, fingerprinting and TB testing. To apply, visit
